Memphis Soul To Be Featured At White House

It’s no secret President Obama loves Memphis soul music.

You may recall a few years ago, he sang Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together,” at an event.

News Channel 3’s Alex Coleman has learned Memphis soul music is coming to the White House and taking center stage.

PBS is producing a show next Tuesday night called “In Performance at the White House: Memphis Soul.”

Several Memphis artists are being considered to perform for President Obama and the first lady tuesday night, and other guests.

Some of the artists are said to be Justin Timberlake, Rreverend Al Green, James Alexander of the Bar-Kays, Sam Moore of Sam and Dave, Charlie Musselwhite, Mavis Staples and Booker T and the MGs.

The special is scheduled to air April 16th on PBS.
