(Memphis) Memphis Fire Investigators are looking into the cause of an overnight fire at a Binghampton area home.

The Memphis fire department was called just after 1:30 this morning to the home at 5844 Harvard.

Carol Brown and her six children were living at the home but are now homeless, “I got up and I put my daughter’s clothes in the dryer and I did smell something but I didn’t think it was coming from my garage until I went back in my room. My son said 'mom look' and I ran to the back door and I looked out the window and I saw fire."

Brown and her four children were able to escape without injury.

The Red Cross assisted the family for the night.

“We got out here and I just looked in the garage and saw all of that fire. I just thank God that me and my children got out safely,” added Brown.

Brown said she is not sure where her family will go next.

The damage left to her home is too severe for the family to live there.

“The kitchen all messed up and I mean the windows, the walls and water is everywhere in there now,” said Brown.
