State Takes Over Memphis’ Emissions Testing

(Memphis)  The State of Tennessee will take over emissions testing for Memphis City residents in July.

Drivers will have to pay for inspections, but the state and city must agree on the cost.

People in Shelby County outside Memphis are not included at this point.

The state takeover comes after Memphis decided to not fund auto inspections, and the county refused to take over the responsibility.
