(Nashville, TN) The move to sell wine in Tennessee grocery stores is dead.

The proposal failed to move out of a house committee by a single vote today.

The committee refused the sponsor’s request for  a week delay to come up with a final version.

The bill would have allowed a county to have a vote on whether they wanted to allow grocery stores to sell wine.

Liquor store owners said rules imposed on them would have given an unfair advantage to grocery stores.
