(Memphis) The buzz around City Hall has people talking about Memphis Mayor A C Wharton and whether he might be considering a move to Washington before his term expires.

Several credible sources are indicating to News Channel 3 Mayor Wharton might be considered for a post under President Obama.

The subject was first raised during a taping of “Informed Sources”.

“The word is out that Mayor Wharton is being considered for a possible appointment in the Obama administration,” said David Kustoff, former Shelby County GOP chair.

Other sources close to Wharton told us they wouldn’t be surprised if something was in the works. We asked the Mayor’s Chief of Staff Bobby White about the possibility.

“We cannot, at this point, confirm or deny any overture has been personally made from the White House to the mayor.” White said.

We’ll be talking about this and other big issues on “Informed Sources” this weekend. Join us Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. on WREG.
