Traffic Update- Ice Storm

There are multiple crashes across the Mid-South.

Right now I-55 north at Brooks road is crawling because a large container has slid off the back of a flat-bed truck.

There is also a crash in the southbound lanes of I-55 at Brooks.

Both the Hernando DeSoto Bridge and I-55 bridge over the Mississippi River are iced over as are many bridges.

There is also a crash on I-40 at Airline Road where the trailer has reportedly come loose from an 18 wheeler truck.

Both Memphis Police and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office ask that if you are involved in a non-injury crash you do not call them. Instead exchange information and report the crash within 10 days.

Basically, if you do not need to be out please do not drive.

The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning for much of the Mid-South including Memphis and Shelby County.

The warning is effective at 9:00 am and continues through 6:00 am Wednesday.

Several Mid-South school districts have closed today due to the winter weather.

So far, there are 13 cancellations at Memphis International Airport.
