Memphis, TN-Who needs star players? With two big names missing from Monday’s Clippers-Grizzlies match-up at FedEx Forum, the reserves took over the spotlight. Clippers backups Jamal Crawford and Matt Barnes each scored 16 points as the Clippers embarrassed the Grizzlies, 99-73.

The Clippers played without all-star point guard Chris Paul, who sat out with a bruised right kneecap. The Grizzlies were without their leading scorer, Rudy Gay, who was allowed to leave the team to attend his grandmother’s funeral in Baltimore.

Monday’s game was also the Clippers’ first trip to Memphis since they won Game 7 of last year’s first round playoffs.

Zach Randolph had a double-double for the Grizzlies with 15 points and 12 rebounds. The Grizzlies were held to 30 percent shooting (a franchise low at home) and a season-low 73 points. The Grizzlies are now 24-12. They play at San Antonio on Wednesday.
