(Memphis)  As Christmas Day festivities come to a close, Mid-Southerners will begin feeling the effects of a powerful winter storm.

Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Memphis metropolitan area. Up to three inches of snow could fall in the city and surrounding areas.

Conditions are expected to be much worse to our north and west — where an extremely rare Blizzard Warning has been issued. Areas near Dyersburg, Jonesboro, Wynne and Blytheville could see anywhere from six to ten inches of snow by Wednesday morning.
