(Memphis) Jerry Allen Jr.'s family was too upset to talk on camera, but they told News Channel 3 he became a father just a few months ago.

Now that baby will never know its father.

Police were called to Polly Williams Park near the intersection of Auburn and Craft in Whitehaven because they got a call about a suspicious car in the park after 8 AM Monday.

Police won't confirm it is Allen and say they're still investigating.

Allen's family says he lived near the park, but they don't think he ever went there.

At this point, they have more questions than answers.

Park regulars say they didn't see or hear anything suspicious today.

“It kind of scares me a little bit because this s a nice area here and it's kind of alarming that an incident like that would happen in this park,” said Mack who regularly goes to the park.

Mack says he's still going to go to the park, but he's going to be more cautious, “Might just look around man and see who's around me, the environment see if there is anyone around me. You know just listen to my sixth sense."

If you know anything about the murder call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH.
