(Memphis)  For the seventh time this year, the Memphis Fire Department is investigating a suspicious fire at the Somerset Park Apartments in Oakhaven.

The latest fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. Friday inside a vacant building at the complex, which is near Winchester and Tchulahoma.

While responding to the fire, firefighters told dispatchers they could see the flames from about one mile away. It took them about 45 minutes to put out the fire once they arrived.

The complex has been the scene of at least seven fires this year alone. The most recent ones prior to Friday’s fire happened back in late September and early October.

“I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in about almost a year now,” said Terri Clark, a tenant in one of the complex’s other buildings.

“You never know (what’s going to happen) and they always happen at night,” said Clark.

After the previous fire, the management at Somerset Park posted a reward for information on the string of suspicious fires. Police are also seeking tips on their Crime Stoppers line at (901) 528-CASH.
