(Memphis) Memphis Police have a person-of-interest in a homicide that happened in southwest Memphis Wednesday morning.

Memphis Police say they responded to a shots fired call at 1:55 Wednesday at 920 Fields.

They say a man was shot and killed while sitting in a car with a female.

The female was not injured.

Family members of the female say the victim was 26 year-old Dominque Hornburger of South Memphis.

“I heard gun shots about 5 or 6 gun shots. I looked out the window and I saw a black SUV backing up the street  and another lady run and got in the car,” said neighbor Clinis Strong.

Memphis Police say their preliminary investigation reveled the victim was in the drive way at 920 Fields when a dark-colored SUV pulled up.

Someone got out of the SUV with a gun and began shooting the victim.

The suspect left the scene before MPD arrived.

But police said the victim did know the shooter.

Hornburger was arrested at the same address four days prior on a Domestic Assault charge when MPD claim he beat his girlfriend.

“The young lady was out the yard and the young man was hitting her and beating her. So we didn’t want to get involved. We did call the police and told them there was a beating going on,” said Strong.

As of 12:45 MPD do not have a suspect in custody.
