(Holly Springs, MS) Rust College professor, Dr. Sylvester Oliver is in jail, charged with raping a student.

"It's always disturbing to hear something like that," said student Ethan Myers.

"It's kind of shocking because that's not what you see every day at a college," said student Lakeisha Davis.

Investigators say the alleged rape happened last month.

The student came forward two weeks later, but that's pretty much all detectives are saying right now.

The school's website lists Oliver as the Director of Humanities at the college and Associate Professor of Music.

One who seems to be popular among some students we caught up with on campus.

"It paints an ugly image, but I know Professor Oliver. When I first got here, he helped me out a lot. He is innocent, until proven guilty, you never know the situation," said Myers.

But for some students, the news is rocking what they felt was a safety net at the small Methodist college in picturesque Holly Springs.

Freshman Lakeisha Davis questions if she should have a close relationship with those guiding her future.

"It makes you think and not want to trust anyone," said Davis.
