Two Families Safe After Overnight Fires

(Memphis)  Two Mid-South families were able to escape unharmed after two separate fires early Wednesday morning.

The first fire happened around 2:15 a.m. in the 3600 block of Kerwin Dr. near Raleigh-Millington Rd. in Raleigh.

Firefighters say the woman and son who lived at the home were able to get out without injury before they arrived to fight the fire.

The cause is still under investigation. The family is now staying with relatives.

The second fire happened around 4:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Agnes Pl. near Bellevue Blvd. in South Memphis.

Firefighters say the fire began in a dryer on the second floor and spread to the attic.

Luckily, the two people who lived there were able to get out safely before firefighters arrived.
