(Shelby County) A child is in stable condition at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital after being run over by a riding mower.

Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies found the child at the Cascade Motel located on the 6500 block of N. Hwy 51.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a 3-year-old boy suffering from a severe wound to his left arm.

"According to the child’s grandfather Chester Edwards was cutting grass at the motel with his two grandsons, ages three and four sitting with him on the mower. As the grandfather negotiated around a tree stump the 3-year-old old fell from the mower, and his right arm went underneath the blades causing a severe injury to his arm."

The child was taken to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

He is now listed in stable condition.

The boy has already undergone one surgery which lasted several hours.
