West Memphis Police Officer Convicted of Civil Rights Violation

(Washington, DC) – A federal jury convicted West Memphis Police Officer Scott McCall of a misdemeanor civil rights violation, after he choked an arrestee who was already handcuffed.

McCall was in the lobby of department headquarters when the incident happened back in June of 2010.

Two police department dispatchers had to physically remove McCall from the detainee.

The department’s Director of Internal Affairs, Lester Ditto, is accused of three counts of witness tampering in the same incident.

He’ll go to trial later this year.
