April Thompson

First At Four Anchor/Reporter

April Thompson joined News Channel 3 in 1992.

She started her news career at a radio station in Griffin, GA before moving to television stations in Montgomery and Huntsville, AL.

Along with her reporting duties, she anchors News Channel 3 at 4pm and 4:30pm Monday through Friday.

April was presented with the Tennessee School Board Association's award for Excellence in Education for her reporting.

April grew up in Atlanta and earned her degree in broadcast journalism at the University of Georgia.

She recently received her master's degree in business finance at the University of Memphis.

When she's away from work, April enjoys golf, biking, gardening and reading.

She also makes time for community service through Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.

When people ask her what she likes best about Memphis, she doesn't hesitate to say, "The people!"
