Jessica Gertler

Since Jessica Gertler joined the News Channel 3 team as a general assignment reporter in August 2013, every day in the Mid-South is feeling more like home.

Jessica started her career in Montgomery, Alabama where she spent three years as a general assignment, political and investigative reporter. She covered the aftermath of the deadly tornado that ripped through Tuscaloosa in 2011, and the Midland City standoff where a child was held hostage in an underground bunker for a week.

Jessica is a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee Knoxville where she majored in journalism and electronic media. During her college career, she interned at Country Music Television (CMT), WVLT-TV in Knoxville, and WTVF-TV in Nashville. She was born in San Francisco, California. Her family moved to Nashville, Tennessee when she was a teenager. That’s when she fell in love with sweet tea, Southern hospitality and of course, SEC football (Go Vols!).

Outside of work, you can find Jessica spending time with family and friends, volunteering, trying new restaurants, traveling and reading.

Jessica enjoys how every day is different at News Channel 3. She loves meeting new people and telling the stories that matter most. Have a story idea? Send her a message through email at Jessica.gertler@wreg.com or Twitter @jgertler_WREG3.
