Entergy: Blytheville, Gosnell power restored

BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. — Thousands of people are back with power right now after losing it across Arkansas.

According to Entergy Arkansas, nearly 2,000 customers in Blytheville and Gosnell were without power around 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

Jared Baeza is one of thousands who started the New Year without power.

“Me, my wife and our three kids were running errands and taking our animal to the vet, and we got back home and the power was off.”

He says their Gosnell home with their three young children quickly got cold.

“It kind of made everyone upset because you come home and it’s cold and everybody’s got kids and stuff," Baeza said.

Some businesses across town had to close their doors until power was restored.

“It was like no warning. It was pretty bad.”

Baeza said an Entergy power company employee told his family it was turned off because a sub-station needed repairs.

The company wrote online the outage was due to an equipment failure.

Nearly 4,000 outages were reported across the state Monday morning.

Entergy officials posted on social media they knew it was "really cold and were making repairs as quickly and safely as possible."

“I’m not mad at the electric company," said Baeza. "It’s just in my mind, come on, warning. That way,  we will be prepared for next time."

Online maps show the power was turned back on for customers Tuesday afternoon.

“Nobody needs to be freezing in these cold temperatures, you know what I mean, so I’m glad it’s back on," said another person who lost power in Blytheville.
