South Memphis standoff over as authorities take suspect into custody
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is behind bars following a shooting and standoff in South Memphis.
According to authorities, the unidentified suspect opened fire on his girlfriend inside a home in the 800 block of Lucille Friday morning.
Children were inside the home during the incident, but they were able to get out once shots were fired. They are in a family member’s custody at this time.
Once on the scene, negoitiators tried to get the suspect to come out of his home, but when he refused they were forced to make entry. The officers were fired upon, but no one was hurt.
The victim was rushed to the Regional Medical Center, but is expected to be okay.
Charges are pending.
