MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police have detained seven people after shots were fired near Mud Island.

Officers were near the levee at North Second Street and Mud Island Drive when they saw two vehicles pull up and then heard gunshots.

The people were reportedly target shooting at aluminum cans, police said.

Police said Tuesday three of those people were issued misdemeanor citations for unlawful possession of a weapon. They have since been released.
