MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The man accused of a double murder in Raleigh Monday evening is behind bars, and family and friends are shell shocked.

"Everyone knew him, and he was such a good person until he got bad on the drugs-- he just changed."

A change that may have played out in murder.

Police told WREG 35-year-old Jerry Pointer killed two people at an apartment complex on Coach Drive. The two men were found shot to death.

"He even admitted that he planned to do it. Why would he do that when he has children that depend on him?"

For those that knew Pointer there are so many questions like what caused him to snap. Right now investigators are working to answer those questions while Pointer remains behind bars.

"He was always with his children. I wouldn`t think he would do something like this."

Relatives believe the killings had something to do with drugs. They hope the 2 counts of first-degree murder will serve as the wake up call they think Pointer needs.

"Hoping this got through his head, and hoping that when he does ever get out of jail...hoping he would change his life for his children."
