MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A 22-year-old is behind bars after Memphis Police say he woke a woman up early one morning with a loaded gun and then robbed her.
“That’s crazy, man," said Stephen Rose, who lives in Memphis. "The world is crazy; that is all I can get out of that.”
That’s Rose’s reaction to hearing what Darius Munn is accused of doing. Memphis Police say Munn woke a woman up around 5:30 a.m. in her High Point home.
She said he asked several questions — "Are you alone? Do you have a gun? Where is your purse?" — and then showed her his gun was loaded.
“I couldn’t imagine that," said Rose. "I’m not even going to lie to you.”
Police said Munn then took the victim around the house and robbed her, asking her to wipe off different items he had touched along the way. He then told her to wait 15 minutes to call police and threatened to come back and hurt her if she didn’t.
“I think it’s just a sign of the times," said Mike Horn, who also lives in Memphis.
Munn is charged with aggravated robbery, kidnapping, burglary and more. Police made it a mission to see him in custody.
“It’s good to see, but I’d wish they’d give every case that priority,” said Horn.
Munn’s also a suspect in a handful of other home-invasion robberies in that part of town caught on surveillance video. His record also shows over a dozen convictions of robbery, theft and burglary in the past.
“That’s good," said Rose. "We need to get people like that off the streets because trust me, he’s probably going to lose his life doing something like that.”
Munn had his arraignment for these crimes on Wednesday.
