MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man has been taken into custody after he allegedly shot a Marine in the head while he was on leave.

Police have charged 21-year-old Jordon Williams with four counts of aggravated assault for shooting Lyndon Mosley.

The Panola County Sheriff said Lyndon Mosley was shot while driving near the Panola County line Tuesday afternoon.

Law enforcement said he was shot in the head. At one point, a bullet was lodged in his eye.

Mosley’s family was too distraught to go on camera but said he is on leave for the birth of his second daughter. His oldest is just one-year-old. Mosley’s father said he’s been in the Marines for five years and is currently stationed in North Carolina.

According to the Panola County Sheriff, he was shot while driving on Highway 6, near the Panola and Lafayette County line. Two other people along with a baby were in the vehicle at the time.

Mosley was the only one hit.

Williams turned himself in to the Panola County Sheriff Department.

More people could be charged, authorities said.
