MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Shelby County Ground Water Quality Control Board will allow TVA to drill into the Memphis Sands Aquifer.

The Tennessee Valley Authority plans to drill into the water supply to cool the TVA Allen Fossil Plant instead of using greywater.

The Sierra Club's appeal to the GWQCB  to stop the drilling has been denied.

It's unclear when the drilling will begin.
