MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis Police officer was shot at early Sunday morning.

Police had been called to a home near the 1500 block of Delano on a domestic violence complaint.

A man said his nephew fired a shot into the ground after being told to leave.

When they arrived, the officers saw the nephew run through a neighborhood and they chased him.

As they entered a yard in the 1600 block of Roosevelt, a man stepped out and shot at them.

One officer returned fire.

No one was hit and the suspect was taken into custody.

The officer involved in the shooting has been routinely relieved of duty pending the outcome of the internal investigation.
