Shooting suspects’ car flips fleeing from police

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Three suspects are now in police custody after fleeing from police Friday afternoon. One suspect is still at large.

Police said it all started a mile away on Basswood where the four men were involved in a shooting.

They fled and crashed into two car on Churchill and Cottonwood.

WREG spoke through a translator with one of the victims who said he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"He says he was driving straight, heard commotion in back from behind him. Police cars, and he saw the car and it just rammed into him. He was caught in the middle of it," the translator said for Isidro Paz.

Paz said his arm was cut up but he is okay otherwise.

Police said they quickly arrested three people, but are still looking for the other.

Meanwhile, those who live here are looking for something else that eludes them: safety for their kids.

"Last night we had a shooting on Boxdale. Keeps going on. We are on a side street, not corner but what if we were? All these kids have been out here playing all day."

Robin Key said they`re selling their long-time home and moving out of Parkway Village.

"They have no respect for life. To do that and then run, why not stay with the car and then deal with what you did."

She`s tired of blue lights putting a spotlight on her neighborhood.
