Trump picks southern senator as attorney general nominee

NEW YORK — President-elect Donald Trump has chosen a southern senator as his choice for attorney general.

CBS News reports Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions is the top choice.

Sessions is a former U.S. Attorney and former Alabama Attorney General.

We are awaiting word on whether Sen. Sessions has accepted the offer to replace Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

The two men met Thursday.
