MIDLAND, Texas — The actions of a Texas football team has garnered a lot of attention on social media.
The Greenwood High School football team charged on the field on Veterans Day with each player holding a flag in solidarity, reports KCBD.
Head coach Chad Hanna said it’s something the students elected to do about halfway through the season, but with the playoff game happening on Veterans Day, the show of patriotism stuck a chord with those in attendance.
“We are a community here,” said Hanna. “This was a great way to show our support for our country, for the men that have made the sacrifice serving that flag.”
“They were excited,” he added. “It was an awesome sight. Just spectacular.”
Hanna said they have received tremendous support from their community.
