CORDOVA, Tenn. -- An employee at the Woodland Hills Event Center in Cordova was attacked while walking to her car.

"A violent act like that against especially a female in this day and time in this environment -- it's atrocious."

Deputies said the woman was trying to get into her car when the man ran up behind her and began punching her in the head.

The victim was told to "Do what I tell you to do or I will shoot you," "lay on your stomach" and "don't look at me."

She said it was at that point she started fighting back, punching him until he ran away.

The owner of the event center told deputies a camera points in the direction of where the 49-year-old mother was attacked, but a good description of the suspect has not been released.

The motive behind the attack is still under investigation.

The victim suffered some cuts and bruises but is expected to be okay.
