2 arrested for stealing Drummonds man’s TV at gunpoint

DRUMMONDS, Tenn. — A man and a woman were arrested in Tipton County, accused of robbing someone at gunpoint in Drummonds.

The robbery happened around midnight Monday.

David Simon, 20, told deputies he was in his yard in the 200 block of Joanna Street when he got into an argument with suspects Demondrous McKinney, 24, and Shawana Tipton, 21.

Simon said McKinney followed him into his residence and demanded Simon return his stolen PlayStation 4.

Simon said McKinney went to steal his TV then pulled out a gun when Simon tried to stop him.

McKinney and Tipton left with the TV, according the the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office.

Millington Police officers located the suspects in their vehicle, from which TCSO found two stolen TVs and a gun that matched the description of the one used in the robbery.

The gun had been reported stolen in Covington earlier this year, according to TCSO.

Both suspects were arrested.

McKinney was charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, theft of property over $500 and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Tipton was charged with aggravated robbery and theft of property over $500.

Both are free on bond as they await their court appearance Nov. 4.
