Woman shot and killed at gas station in South Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- MPD investigators are looking for suspects after the city's 182nd homicide of 2016.

Police say a woman was shot around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Roma Mart gas station near Mallory Ave. & Lauderdale St. in South Memphis.

The woman, who police say may have been targeted, was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

She reportedly had just left work at FedEx Ground, which is located just down the road.

A witness said the woman was with a group of around 12 people.

That same witness said many FedEx employees will gather at the location after their shift is over.

He told WREGĀ  at least six shots were fired by someone who left the scene on foot.
