MINNEAPOLIS, MN --  A national chain store has pulled clown masks for Halloween.

Target has pulled all clown masks from stores and its website.

“We’ve removed clown masks from our stores and Target.com,” company spokeswoman Kristen Emmons said in an email to WBZ-TV Sunday.

The removal has to do with a number of scary clown sightings reported to police and on social media.

Police in several states have been dealing with threats and pranks linked to sightings of people in creepy clown masks.

There have been arrests after some incidents.

Even Ronald McDonald is keeping a low profile.
