MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Two people are dead and another in extremely critical condition after a car accident on I-55 near Shelby Drive overnight.

Around 3 a.m., a 2004 Nissan Altima stalled in the middle lane of I-55 heading northbound without any lights.

A semi-trailer struck the car from behind, ejecting the female in the back seat. She was taken to the Regional Medical Center in extremely critical condition. The two females in the front seat were already dead when authorities arrived.

Several good Samaritans who stopped because of the crash also sustained damage to their cars.
