MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis woman has been charged with child abuse after using an extension cord on her children.

Police were called to the home of Shondrya Collins after a neighbor reported hearing yelling.

In an affidavit, police say Collins told them she had been yelling at her children and gave them a ‘whipping.”

A 5-year-old boy told police he had wet himself.

Officers said the boy had welt and bruises on his legs and arms, some of which were bleeding.

The child said his mother hit him with a brown extension cord.

Collins is charged with aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect or endangerment.
