Vera Bradley’s payment processing system hacked

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Another national retailer is warning their customers about a potential data security issue.

Vera Bradley were notified about the issue on September 15.

According to a statement provided on the company’s website, hackers accessed Vera Bradley’s payment processing system and installed a program that specifically look for payment card data such as card numbers, the cardholder’s name, expiration date, and internal verification code.

The company said the security breach only affects those payment cards that were used at a retail store between July 25 and September 23 of this year.

Cards used online were not affected.
