39 people, including a police officer, indicted in Lauderdale County drug bust

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Tenn. — Thirty-nine people have been indicted after a drug bust in Lauderdale County.

A nine-month investigation focused on the sale, delivery, and distribution of illegal controlled substances, including cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, synthetic drugs, and scheduled prescription pills.

Among those indicted was Stephen Kirkpatrick, a Ripley police officer.

We were first to tell you about his arrest earlier this week.

Kirkpatrick is charged with possession of drugs with intent to sell.

He’s also charged with official misconduct and simple possession of drugs.

The city attorney confirmed Kirkpatrick is suspended without pay pending outcome of the investigation.

He first became a reserve officer in 2009.

The undercover operation consisted of 69 controlled purchases of illegal narcotics from 39 people from all areas of Lauderdale County, Tennessee.
