Officer near St. Louis ambushed and killed

SOUTH COUNTY, MO — St. Louis County Police have confirmed an officer has died after an early morning shooting.

They say in a release to the media, “It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that our officer has died from his injuries. The officer was 33 years old and had served St. Louis County for the past four years.”

Police tell KTVI-TV that immediately upon arriving at the scene, a suspect opened fire, hitting Officer Blake Snyder.

His partner returned fire and wounded the suspect.

The officer and his partner were responding to a disturbance call.

It happened about 5 a.m. Thursday near 10751 Arno Drive in Green Park.

Officials say the suspect shot at the officer, who returned fire.

Trenton Forster, 18, has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Officer Snyder was a four-year veteran and leaves behind a wife and son.
