Alcorn State no match for Arkansas
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Austin Allen completed 13 of 18 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns as No. 20 Arkansas won for the 10th time in 12 games with a 52-10 victory over Alcorn State on Saturday.
Following a loss to No. 9 Texas A&M last week, the Razorbacks (4-1) led 24-0 after the first quarter and had few struggles afterward again the Football Championship Subdivision Braves (1-3).
Running backs Devwah Whaley and Rawleigh Williams each topped the 100-yard rushing mark for Arkansas, with Whaley finishing with a career-high 135 yards on nine carries and Williams 126 on 13 carries.
Jared Cornelius added a pair of touchdown catches and finished with four catches for 106 yard, his second straight week to top the 100-yard mark.
Noah Johnson threw for 158 yards and rushed for 55 more for Alcorn State, which has lost three straight games.
Arkansas entered Saturday 1-5 in its last six games in Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium, including a shocking loss to Toledo a year ago.
However, the Razorbacks appeared right at home early against the back-to-back Southwestern Athletic Conference champion Braves _ taking a 24-0 lead late in the first quarter after Allen’s second touchdown to Cornelius.
The junior quarterback, in his first season as the starter, now has 10 touchdown passes and no interceptions in his last four games.
