CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina 11-year-old hasn’t been seen since getting off the school bus Tuesday, WBTV reported.
The bus driver said he saw Emily Dowdle walk toward her home, but when Emily’s mom arrived home 20 minutes later, she wasn’t there.
Police said they don’t believe foul play was involved and said the girl likely ran away.
Emily had recently skipped school several times and was in trouble, police said.
Nonetheless, the town is worried and anxious for her to be found.
Police said though she has been classified as a runaway, her young age puts her at a greater risk, making it more important she be located quickly.
