MEMPHIS, Tenn. — September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Dozens of events are held across the nation, and Memphis is no exception.
Eight thousand people participated in the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer Saturday here in the Bluff City.
Participants ran through downtown Memphis, starting and ending at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Ronald Lollar, a father from Louisiana, was in Memphis at the event with his daughter, a patient at St. Jude.
"It just warms your heart from the inside out. All you can think about all week is doing it for the kids," he said.
More than $600,000 was raised this weekend here, and $10 million was raised nationwide.
