Woman shot and killed near Egypt Central Road early Tuesday morning
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Law enforcement officers are investigating an overnight shooting in the Raleigh area.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office were called to a house in the 4200 block of Sun Ridge Cove on a call of domestic violence/shots fired, which is off Egypt Central Road west of Singleton Parkway.
Deputies found the victim lying in the hallway. She was had multiple gunshot wounds and was unresponsive, police said.
She was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
Police said the suspect, a 22-year-old man, was “armed and combative” when deputies asked about the domestic violence call.
The suspect struggled with the deputies and tried to take their guns, police said.
That suspect is now in custody, police said.
Memphis Police also made the scene and are investigating the case.
No charges have been filed at this time.
Neighbors have identified the victim as Darneshah La’Shaye Qualls.
