Woman sentenced for role in minister’s murder after they met for sex
MEMPHIS Tenn. — Lashonda Williams has entered a guilty plea for helping in the murder of a Memphis minister.
Williams was sentenced to 15 years in prison for facilitation to commit first-degree murder in the death of Rev. Don Smith.
She testified last month in the trial of her boyfriend and co-defendant Roger Reed Jr.
He was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.
Rev. Smith was shot to death November 1, 2014 in the 3800 block of Lichterman Road.
Investigators said Reed and Williams, both of Greenville, Miss., got into Smith’s car after an agreement was reached for a sexual transaction, but that Reed then shot Smith in the head and took his watch and $40.
