LOS ANGELES — A man is behind bars after he reportedly stole a big rig possibly filled with hazardous materials and lead police on a 3-hour long chase.
Why did he do it?
Because he didn’t want to go back to jail, reported KTLA.
It all began around 10:30 a.m. when officers spotted the stolen truck between Barstow and Victorville, approximately 115 miles northeast of Los Angeles.
Around 1:30 p.m., the suspect had made his way southbound near Morongo Valley with California Highway Patrol hot in pursuit.
The driver eventually pulled over at a rest stop, got out of the truck with his hands raised and surrendered peacefully.
The company has posted a statement on their website, which read, “One of our trucks was stolen last night in Southern California. We have tracked it and law enforcement is in pursuit. We have been working with all relevant authorities and will continue to do so.”
The suspect’s name has not been released at this time.
