Stereo repairman carjacked in quiet residential neighborhood

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Scary moments for neighbors in Whitehaven when a man is carjacked by two armed men in the middle of the morning on a quiet residential street.

WREG's Luke Jones was told two workmen were called to install a car stereo on Mickey Drive around 10:30 a.m.

While one employee went to fix the stereo, the other reportedly stayed in the work truck.

Suddenly, things took a turn for the worse.

"He saw a reflection out of that glass, he say his truck was moving," said a witness.

The employee who had stayed in the car was approached by two armed suspects and carjacked.

He immediately took off running as the crooks slipped into the truck and drove away.

Not knowing his co-worker was able to get out of the truck, both men in the driveway took off running down the street after the vehicle.

As they were chasing the suspects down, they also were able to call for help.

At a dispatcher's request, they stopped their chase.

That's when they noticed the other repairman hiding behind a car.

"He said that the gentleman that was driving the truck had a gun, put a gun on him, made him get out," said the witness.

Two hours later, the truck was recovered by authorities after they chased the suspects down Shelby Drive.

Both men were taken into custody.
