MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One Memphis couple is celebrating a major milestone: 70 years of marriage!
WREG's April Thompson first told you about Junis and Hattie Puryear after a picture of them celebrating their anniversary went viral.
And Sunday, the celebrations continued.
Sunday morning, friends and family gathered at Keel Avenue Baptist Church in North Memphis.
The couple was presented with a proclamation by state Rep. Antonio Parkinson.
The Puryears met on a blind date in 1946, and they have been an item ever since.
After 70 years, the couple is still going strong and still living in North Memphis.
Mr. Puryear still drives. Mrs. Puryear uses a walker, but it isn't stopping her.
Shes 92 years old, and her husband — 96!
