Young man holds scared woman’s hand down mall escalator

FT. WAYNE, Ind. — A photo depicting a simple act of kindness has quickly gone viral.

Leak Kerr said it all began when she went shopping with her two young kids and grandma in Ft. Wayne.

As the group made their way through the mall, they happened upon one of the escalators.

With two kids and shopping bags in tow, Kerr said she jumped on the escalator.

It wasn’t until after she did that she realized grandma was too scared to follow her.

“I felt horrible as I watched her try again and again to get her footing right,” posted Kerr. “People walked around her, pushed by her or asked her to step to the side.”

That is until one young man decided to help.

He reportedly grabbed her hand and helped her onto the escalators.

It was a small act of kindness that has touched many on social media.

The photo was shared more than 1,500 times and garnered more than 12,000 likes.
