Third arrest made in Memphis kidnapping/torture case

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A third arrest in the gruesome torture case police say was fueled by drugs.

Randall Rowland, 23, is being held on half a million dollars bond.

Rowland, who also goes by the name Blake, is charged with aggravated rape, especially aggravated kidnapping and attempted first-degree murder.

He is the first suspect to be charged with rape in the case.

Officers say, Rowland, John Richardson,  and Gage Caulk kidnapped a man, then sexually tortured him including sodomizing the victim and forcing him into a bathtub of bleach.

The attack happened last week.

The victim told police he was near Summer and Sycamore  View when the men tied a rope around his neck, forced him into a car and kicked him until he was unconscious.

After 24 hours of torture, investigators say the men left the victim for dead on a gravel road.

Someone driving in the area spotted the victim and took him to the hospital.

WREG checked Shelby County Court records.

Richardson has a history of arrests for drug and weapons violations.

The Tipton County Sheriff's Office gave us a long list of his arrests as well which included assault.

The victim's family said he is now receiving mental health treatment.

Richardson is at 201 Poplar on a $500,000 bond.
