Man who tried to run over SCSO deputy & shot dead in West Memphis

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. -- A man wanted for trying  to run over a Shelby County deputy has been shot and killed.

Ricardo Tenorio barricaded himself in a room at the Days Inn at 1100 Ingram Boulevard.

During a shootout with West Memphis Police, Tenorio was killed.

ricardoHe had nearly a dozen outstanding warrants out for him and was wanted as a person of interest in a murder.

That murder took place in Cordova August 26th.

A 33-year-old man was found dead in a home on Mikayla Lane.

Deputies said he was at a known drug house Thursday when a deputy tried to grab Tenorio from a van, but Tenorio quickly sped toward him.

"The detective jumps out of the way and as the guy drives out of the driveway, one shot was fired," said Earle Farrell with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives would not say if Tenorio fired the shot or if it came from a deputy's weapon, but did confirm Tenorio reached for a gun.

"What caught my attention was the van drove off pretty quick," said Juana Lopez, who works across the street.
