COLUMBIA, Tenn. — A Columbia woman was arrested after she disrupted a funeral by trying to steal the body.

Cynthia Frierson was arrested by authorities at the Roundtree Napier Funeral Home.

But the 39-year-old’s drunken crime spree didn’t start there.

Authorities said someone reported their car had been hit by a red truck.

As officers were responding to the scene, dispatch received another call to the funeral home.

Frierson reportedly burst in the funeral in the middle of a service, walked up to the casket and began touching the body inside.

At one point, witnesses said she even tried to lift the body out of the casket in front of family and friends.

A neighbor who knows Frierson told WTVF this type of behavior doesn’t surprise him.

“Police is always being called back and forth over there for something that she’s done or doing,” he said.

Frierson was arrested and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct at funerals.
