Employees tied up, robbed at Mud Island River Park

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- New information in a violent robbery on Mud Island River Park.

The Riverfront Development Corporation said there were five men who barged in with guns, but on Wednesday Memphis Police corrected that saying they're only looking for three.

WREG has also learned two employees working in the office were tied up before being robbed.

The robbers reportedly took off carrying bags filled with cash and then tried to run out through the gate.

That's when employees at the north end of the park tried to halt their getaway.

The robbers dropped the cash, fired a single shot and took off in a black Infinity SUV.

The park told WREG they are still trying to figure out how much, if any, the robbers got away with.

They should know by Thursday.
